The ultimate tour! Around the year 2000, I had already hiked and backpacked twice in the High and Low Tatras. The guidebook at the time mentioned the occasional brown bear, but sightings were rare. Nearly 25 years later, I noticed some warning signs, and further research revealed that the bears had become quite a nuisance. They are now being hunted again or simply end up on someone's plate. This was also one reason why I stayed at official campsites. I didn't see a single bear, even though I was often asked about them. The area here is stunning, but best suited for hiking. Nevertheless, the cycling routes were, for the most part, truly beautiful.
