How to Fix a Luby Emergency L-5825S LED Light That Flickers When Plugged In But Stays Bright During a Power Outage is a bit confusing if you don't understand how emergency lights work. The Luby L-5825S emergency light has SMD LEDs connected in parallel. Therefore, the inspection is slightly different from those connected in series. We can't see the LED light on using a multitester alone, as the current supplied by the multitester is very small. However, we can still analyze the problem with a multitester by observing the resistance indicated by the multitester, even if the SMD LED doesn't light up. As long as the resistance is between 360 and 850 ohms, the SMD LED circuit is likely fine. However, if the resistance is close to 0 ohms, there's likely a short circuit in the SMD LED. To find a damaged or shorted SMD LED in this parallel circuit, we need additional tools, such as a magnifying glass, to see the SMD LED more clearly. A damaged SMD LED usually has a black spot in the center. If the SMD LED is in good condition but still flickers when plugged into the power supply, there's a problem with the LED driver. This usually involves a problem with the transistor on pin 3, the output capacitor, or the resistor in the transistor's trigger path. The solution is usually to bypass the current by directly passing it to the output capacitor, bypassing the transistor on pin 3.
