Nestled at the foot of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, the Garden of Gethsemane is one of the most sacred and emotionally powerful places in the Christian world. It was here, under ancient olive trees, that Jesus spent His last night in deep prayer before being arrested and led to the crucifixion. The name "Gethsemane" comes from the Aramaic Gat Shemanim, meaning "oil press" — fitting for a place surrounded by olive trees that are thousands of years old. According to tradition, some of the trees standing here today grew from the same roots that witnessed Jesus' final hours of solitude and anguish. Beside the garden stands the Church of All Nations, built over the rock where Jesus is believed to have prayed in sorrow. Inside, the dim light and sacred silence invite visitors to pause and reflect on that profound moment in history. As you walk through the garden, with the Old City in view and the olive branches whispering in the wind, time seems to stop.
