My banged-up modified Walthers HO scale Car Float model gets repaired, painted and weathered, then installed on the layout! Aloha and welcome to my HO scale Kawaihae Harbor and Big Island Rail model railroad. The BIRR is based on the premise that the actual standard Gauge Hawaii Consolidated Railway never went out of business following the 1946 tsunami that slammed into Hilo. My layouts have been featured in several of the major model railroading publications, including Model Railroader, and Railroad Model Craftsman magazines. A recent move has caused the last small bedroom-sized layout to be dismantled. It is now being totally rebuilt to fit in our new home’s second bedroom as the top level of a two level, two scale model railroad projects.
