A ride behind LMS Fairburn 4MT 2-6-4T 42073 at the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway - 05/04/2015

During my Easter visit to the Lake District, i made several visits to the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. The 3.2 mile line is extremely popular with tourists and seems to grow and grow each year, last year being one of it's most successful seasons ever. But perhaps to railway enthusiasts, the line is best known before it's two LMS Fairburn 4MT 2-6-4 Tank Engines: 42073 and 42085. They are the only two members of their class to remain and apart from a few brief visits to galas and special events, they have the railway's primary motive power along with Haverthwaite's fleet of industrial locomotives. I arrived in the Lakes on Thursday, and soon headed off to the heritage line to film whatever was running; that day being Bagnall 0-6-0ST 2682 'Princess' (See separate video). However, 42073 was in light steam in the yard and i soon found out that the Fairburn Tank was due to be running for the railway's 'Easter Egg Weekend' the following day. After exploring the breathtaking Lake District on Friday and Saturday, i dedicated the whole of Easter Sunday to the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. In this video, 42073 is seen departing Haverthwaite on a mostly dry Easter Sunday and making her way along the scenic route to Lakeside. If you've never been to the L&HR, i thoroughly recommend a visit, especially if utilising the line's unique 'Rail-and-Boat Connection'. I hope you all enjoy the video.
