Kirt is a legend of the Ukrainian army. He has gone from the first volunteer units in 2014 to the large-scale processes that are forming a new army today. Kyrylo “Kirt” Berkal fought in Ilovaisk, Shyrokyne, Maryinka, defended Mariupol and was in Russian captivity. He is currently the deputy commander of the Third Army Corps. Now his focus is on what the Ukrainian army has lacked for years: high-quality and systematic training of fighters. Kirt is convinced that the struggle will be long, and our victory depends on how well we train people now. That is why he is developing a new model of military education, a culture of combat analysis and training initiatives that are changing the approach to training. What started with a hundred people ten years ago has grown to over fifty thousand soldiers. A scale that is impossible not to notice. The new documentary film Babylon'13 tells about this stage — about a man who is not just fighting, but is forming the Ukrainian army of the future.
