I Painted a Victorian Washstand… Here’s Why
For years, this beautiful Victorian washstand sat proudly in my home exactly as it was. Every time I looked at it, I questioned whether I should leave it untouched… or transform it into something that truly suited my home. I know painting antique furniture is a topic that divides opinion, so this project wasn’t a decision I took lightly. In this makeover, I share exactly why I chose to paint it, the restoration work it needed first, and how I created a soft, timeworn finish using leftover chalk paint mixed from previous projects. I also added beautiful decorative details that brought the piece back to life while keeping its character intact. Whether you’re someone who loves preserving original furniture or someone who enjoys giving old pieces a fresh future, I hope this project gives you plenty of inspiration—and maybe even starts a conversation! In this video you’ll see: • Restoring and repairing a Victorian washstand • Decorative painting techniques • Working with leftover chalk paint • Using WoodUbend mouldings and Posh Chalk products • Creating an aged, elegant finish • Styling the finished piece in its new home If you enjoy creative furniture transformations, vintage interiors and honest DIY tutorials, I’d love for you to subscribe and join me each week.
