They Accidentally Put a Human in Predator Academy—Now the Predators Lock Their Doors | HFY Stories
They Accidentally Put a Human in Predator Academy—Now the Predators Lock Their Doors | HFY Stories The galaxy tells it like a horror story—they put a human in the Predator Academy by mistake, and within a year the predators were locking their doors. And every part of that is true, and every part of it means the opposite of what you think. My name is Della. I was eighteen, and I should never have been at the Vrethic War College at all—the crucible of an apex-predator species, the most brutal academy in our region of space, closed to outsiders. I ended up there because of a clerical error so stupid I'm embarrassed to tell you, and the Vrethi kept me rather than admit the mistake, because the Vrethi do not admit weakness. That was their whole law: any weakness shown is weakness exploited. To be seen vulnerable is to be destroyed. So every cadet performed invulnerability every second of every day—and at night, behind locked doors, fell apart alone, each one certain they were the only one. I should have been prey. Instead I was something they had no category for and no defense against: a creature who responded to weakness with help instead of predation. And one night I found a cadet behind a door she thought was locked, in the middle of a collapse she'd have died before letting another Vrethi see—and I did the unthinkable. I sat down. I stayed. This is the story of what happened when the doors started to unlock—and why the galaxy got it exactly backwards. Three parts. Full story. Headphones on, lights low. 🔔 Subscribe for long-form HFY sci-fi narration every week. 💬 Tell me in the comments: who was the person who just stayed? #HFY #SciFi #HumanityFuckYeah #WholesomeHFY #AlienAcademy #SpaceOpera #SciFiStory #FoundFamily #HFYStory #NarratedStory
