Democrats And Republicans Unite To Pressure Canada

The US Tourism Decline is only one part of the growing Canadian response to the US Canada Trade War. Now more American lawmakers are demanding that Canada put their products back on our shelves. Okay, so I thought Claudia Tenney and Adam Schiff were the main characters in this story. Apparently they were only the beginning. In this video, I react to a CBC As It Happens report about 14 California lawmakers from both parties, including Nancy Pelosi and Mike Thompson, pressuring Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette to restore American wine and spirits. They say Canadians need more choice and that reopening the market would be in our economic interest. But Canada did not start this. Quebec says the restrictions will remain while the United States continues its unjustified tariffs. Meanwhile, American wine exports to Canada dropped 77 per cent, American spirits exports fell 63 per cent, and Canadian wineries are benefiting from the space left behind. This is bigger than wine. It is about Democrats and Republicans telling Canada what is supposedly best for us while directing their anger north instead of toward Washington. And even when American bottles eventually return, Canadians have long memories. A lot of us will simply walk right past them.
