De Carro para o Uruguai

#vacation #uruguay #travel A tip for those who want to plan a different kind of vacation, or for those who live in Southern Brazil and want to take advantage of long weekends, is to drive down to Uruguay. From Curitiba to Punta del Este - round trip - it's 3,000 km. You can choose different routes along the coast or inland. 🗺️ To get from Curitiba to Uruguay you have two possible routes. 1) Along the coast of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, on BR 101, which is almost entirely a dual carriageway. 2) And another via BR 116, inland, with a single carriageway, which is a slightly shorter route. 📍OUR CHOICE: We opted to leave Curitiba towards Vacaria, RS - taking BR 116 and, in total, on this first leg of the journey in 2023, there were 5 tolls, each costing R$ 6.90. One was in Fazenda Rio Grande, Paraná; another in Rio Negro, on the border with Santa Catarina; and the other three in the Santa Catarina cities of Monte Castelo, Santa Cecília, and Correia Pinto. (Total of R$ 34.50). We passed through Lages, in the highlands, and continued for another hour until we arrived in Vacaria, Rio Grande do Sul. The next day, we hit the road again, a 332 km journey to Porto Alegre. We traveled 228 km to Gramado - where we spent a few hours - and paid only one toll, of R$ 7.10 in São Francisco de Paula. From Porto Alegre it was another 95 km, which we covered in almost two hours, passing through Novo Hamburgo and São Leopoldo. We paid two tolls on this stretch - near Três Coroas (R$ 7.10) and Campo Bom (R$ 3.25). From POA to Chuí it's over 500 km, the southernmost border of Brazil. And on this stretch, there were three more tolls, costing R$ 15.20 each. It's undoubtedly the most expensive stretch, but the road is very beautiful. The straight stretches seem endless, and you travel peacefully without worry. 🛂 DOCUMENTS FOR THE BORDER: And leaving Chuy towards the Uruguayan coast, you will need to cross customs and present your documents. Let's take note of what you will need to bring PRINTED: PASSPORT OR IDENTITY DOCUMENT WITH PHOTO; CAR DOCUMENT; DRIVER'S LICENSE, IF YOU ARE THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE; GREEN CARD; ✅ NO LONGER REQUIRED: PROOF OF VACCINATION; (since mid-February 2023, no longer required) and HEALTH INSURANCE is now optional. 🚘ABOUT TOLLS IN URUGUAY: In Uruguay it's a little different, because the toll plazas don't have an attendant waiting for you in an individual booth. So you will need to download the Telepeaje app on your cell phone (https://telepeaje.com.uy) and place a prepaid TAG on your car's windshield when you arrive at the first toll point you find there (it's near La Paloma). It costs about 15 reais and they will load it for you with the amount you intend to use. Then, if you want to add more credits, just top them up online. ::::::: IF YOU LIKED IT, LEAVE A LIKE, SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL AND LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS.
