On the 10th, many locations in Akita Prefecture recorded their highest temperatures of the year so far. Amidst this heat, hydrangeas are in full bloom in Yurihonjo City, offering a refreshing sight. Yokote City reached 33.8°C, just shy of a scorching hot day. Yurihonjo City's Yashima recorded 33.6°C, and Akita City 31.7°C, with 22 out of 26 locations experiencing temperatures above 30°C. According to various fire departments, a total of eight people were transported to hospitals with symptoms of heatstroke. Three of them were transported while watching or participating in high school baseball games. Amidst this, our reporting team headed to… the “Oriwatari Hydrangea Road” along Prefectural Road 69, known as Oriwatari Pass in Yurihonjo City. Colorful hydrangeas bloomed along approximately 2km, and visitors enjoyed the sight from their car windows. Along the Oriwatari Hydrangea Road, hydrangeas of various colors—blue, purple, pink, and white—are in full bloom and are currently at their peak. According to Yurihonjo City, the beautiful flowers can be enjoyed until next weekend. Why not take a drive and enjoy the colorful hydrangeas to cool off?
