2011-11-21 - 3NEWS - WELLINGTON WIND TOO STRONG FOR SOME [RAW FOOTAGE]
Wellington experienced some wild winds today, with gusts up to 146 kilometres an hour, making it impossible for some Wellingtonians to stay on their feet. Outside Greytown School in the Wairarapa , a tree fell on two people walking on the roadside. Both were injured and taken to Masterton Hospital - one is in a serious condition and the other in a moderate condition. Ferry sailings continued as usual and some flights were delayed and passengers experienced some bumpy approaches to the runway. Police issued a warning to motorists, asking them to take extra care. Election billboards have been the hardest hit, with many being blown down across the city. The airport also announced their winning design to replace the ALL BLACK sign on the Miramar cutting today which was, ironically, Wellington with the last few letters blowing away.
