Goodbye Dubaï ? - reportage intégral

For decades, the United Arab Emirates cultivated the image of an oasis of security and prosperity for tourists, entrepreneurs, and expatriates from around the world. The illusion shattered on February 28th, when these monarchies found themselves suddenly drawn into a conflict they hadn't started. Dubai went from dream to nightmare in a matter of hours. With eight deaths already, hundreds of missiles fired, and more than 2,000 drones grounded since the start of the war in Iran, tourists have fled, and many residents have also left the country. Alexandre has lived in Dubai for twenty years, where he founded his modeling agency. His wife and five-year-old son are preparing to leave the emirate until the conflict ends. But the Franco-Swiss businessman is even considering selling his company and returning to live in Europe. Guillaume has staked everything on Dubai. At the helm of the largest French-speaking real estate agency, with 35 employees, he capitalized on the booming market in the Emirates and wants to believe that Dubai will emerge stronger from this crisis. Wassim is a tour guide, Naveed a driver for tourists. Today, they are out of work and dwindling their savings, praying for the return of travelers. They are worried that the war could continue.
