When people hear the name Shibuya, they often picture the famous crossing in front of the station and the constant flow of crowds. But when we look beyond the station and explore Shibuya City as a whole, we find completely different atmospheres existing side by side. We entered the forest of Meiji Jingu from Kitasando, then spent time in Yoyogi Park during spring. When the season shifted into early summer, we visited Hillside Terrace, IVY PLACE, Daikanyama T-SITE, the Former Asakura Residence, and the Sarugakuzuka Kofun in Daikanyama. Finally, we arrived in Shibuya, where the warm smiles of some wonderful seniors gave us a little extra energy. Forests, parks, books, architecture, traces of history that remain, and the people we meet along the way. In the fourth chapter of “City Fragments,” we capture some of the many sides of Shibuya City that we love.
