Iron deficiency is particularly acute with excessive application of phosphorus fertilizers (don't overdo it with monopotassium phosphate!), wood ash, and liming. Iron deficiency can also be caused by overuse of copper sulfate: the use of copper-containing fungicides such as Bordeaux mixture, Hom, copper sulfate, Azofos, and Abiga Peak is quite popular due to their effectiveness in combating plant diseases. With iron deficiency, plants begin to develop chlorosis. This disease often affects tomatoes and cucumbers, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, young fruit seedlings, and a variety of ornamental plants. Due to rapid inactivation in the soil, iron is most often applied as a spray. The best form of iron-based fertilizer is chelated iron. However, be very careful! Most commercial fertilizers contain a dangerous component, EDTA, which increases heavy metal levels in fruits and vegetables, negatively impacts soil fertility, and is a persistent environmental pollutant. That's why I'll teach you how to make an excellent fertilizer for your plants... from rust! To prepare the fertilizer solution, you'll need to find rusty scraps. This could be an old galvanized bucket, the remains of a shovel, rusty tin cans—anything, as long as they don't contain dangerous heavy metals like nickel, cadmium, lead, etc. Therefore, it's best to avoid questionable alloys. Use anything you'd likely bury in the ground as a source of iron for your plants. Rusty scraps should be soaked in a solution consisting of 10 liters of water and... Watch this video for all the recipe details! As a result, feeding your plants according to my recipe increases your yield by up to 20% (!!!). Quite a feat, turning rusty scraps into valuable fertilizer for all your plants! Since iron is immobile not only in the soil but also in the plant, iron fertilization should be carried out regularly, at least until the end of the first half of the plant's growing season, until mid-summer. However, it's important to remember the old adage: "What's medicine is also poison." Therefore, it's best not to overdo it with any fertilizing. It's sufficient to apply 200 ml of this solution to the roots of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and eggplants every two weeks to prevent chlorosis and significantly reduce the risk of nitrate accumulation in the fruit (yes! Iron can do that!). For more serious plants such as blueberries, currants, or raspberries, 0.5 liters per bush is required. Such fertilizing should always be combined with watering. This way, the fertilizing will be evenly distributed throughout the soil, preventing the "here it's thick, there it's bare" effect. For spraying, dilute the solution three times and treat all plants with the same solution at least once every two weeks. By the way, combining watering and spraying produces the best results.
