November 25th was Orange Day, a UN campaign that has been raising awareness of violence against women and girls since 1999. In Germany, a woman is killed by her partner or ex-partner almost every day. Violence against women is mostly perpetrated by men. Most perpetrators are close to the women. This was also the case in the case we address in this special episode. We speak with Tanja K. She experienced the worst a mother can imagine: She lost her 21-year-old daughter to a violent crime. In the interview, she says: "I think about this crime every day, 24 hours a day. My mind hasn't been at peace since then." Tanja K. wants to encourage others with this interview. When in doubt, she urges people to speak up once more rather than once too few. Johanna met her murderer, Jan T., while training to be a nurse in a hospital. Jan T. wormed his way into Johanna's life through deliberate lies, even fabricating a diagnosis of cancer.
