How to Clean Stains from Old Mattress

Don't live on the edge like me! Please wear gloves ;) _____________________________________________________ Hello cleaners anonymous! I am trying something new - cleaning an old mattress (or two)! I have always been afraid to tackle this type of cleaning because I never knew how to get rid of stains on a mattress. It seems that the stains only grow in size when you try to spot clean them. So once and for all I am going to solve this life-long mystery (well, adult-long mystery). Get ready for some scrubbing action and magic of simple ingredients! Not to spoil the surprise but here is what I used: 1 cup water, 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide (3%), 1 big table spoon of baking soda, and 1 table spoon of dishwashing liquid. The measurements are approximate. If you see it too bubbly, then reduce dishwashing liquid. If you think you want to bleach the stain more/less, then adjust peroxide by 1/2 cup more/less.
