Predicting the value of a project (or, more generally, a mining company) is a complex matter. Several methods exist in the literature for estimating and determining the value of a mining project, but many of them do not provide a realistic value or are inapplicable due to the specific nature of the mining industry. Aside from the usual financing risk for mining producers and the financing and discovery risk for exploration companies, there is price cyclicality, ongoing changes in operating structures and capital costs, the vagaries of the stock market, and the volatility of circumstances.
