An Amazing 12 Hours of Rare MBTA Commuter Rail and Amtrak Trains in Eastern Massachusetts

Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy the video. If you are new here, my channel mostly consists of railroad videography from around the Northeastern USA. Please note that all content that I post is mine and should not be used without my consent. If you are interested in more content from me, my photography can be viewed on Instagram at:   / rail_spike_productions   About this video: From mid-afternoon on November 14, 2025 to the early morning hours of the next day, there were plenty of interesting trains to see around the MBTA Commuter Rail system. The first section of the video shows part of the Friday afternoon MBTA and Amtrak rush hour at Back Bay, ending with an appearance of a run of the MBTA’s Office Car Special/executive train with a heritage locomotive duo. I returned to the city later in the day to catch up with an MBTA work train move out of Somerville bound for Worcester. The power of the train, leased PNLX MP20GP-3 2107, showed up on the Grand Junction Running Track in Cambridge lite power shortly ahead of the Readville Switcher on their regular weeknight run to Boston Engine Terminal swapping out equipment from the South Side. The rest of the video is a bunch of clips of the work train once they began their trip west with the 13 freight cars loaded with materials for a project at the Worcester station. I started in Cambridge and continued to follow them to Newton, Wellesley, and Worcester. Shortly after the clip in Wellesley was taken, the 2107 encountered issues that required assistance from another train as seen in the last few clips. More information about this rescue move can be found in the video I posted before this one.
