From E-Waste to Linux: Reviving the Microsoft Surface RT
The Surface RT was abandoned by Microsoft years ago, but that does not mean it is e-waste yet. In this video, we install postmarketOS to see if Linux can revive this classic hardware. We walk through the installation process and test what actually works on the Tegra 3 platform. While the lack of 3D acceleration makes modern web browsing and media playback a struggle, there is a silver lining. With the original Touch Cover, this tablet transforms into a fantastic, portable Linux terminal. If you have an old Surface RT gathering dust, this might be the best way to give it a second life. It is certainly a better experience than the dead Windows 8.1 ecosystem.
