[OLD] The Greatest Performer - A Million Dreams (Popee the Performer Animatic)

Hello there! So yeah, this crappy animatic is my first video on this channel. The characters aren’t mine: they are Kedamono, Popee and his sister Marifa from the anime and manga Popee the Performer. This is part of a project called The Greatest Performer. I noticed how this series would make a nice crossover with The Greatest Showman, since both talk about circuses mainly, and so the idea of an animatic series like this came up. Probabily gonna make all the other songs from the movie with PTP characters as well, but as for now have this. Sorry if the beginning looks a bit rushed, I’ve actually started this animatic over an year ago, but got the motivation to finish it just now. As for the roles, Marifa is obviously Charity, while Kedamono and Popee share the role of Barnum (but only in this song, the others will have just Popee as Barnum), here are the exact moments where Kedamono and Popee sings their lines just in case you might get confused. 0:14 Kedamono 0:39 Popee 1:05 Kedamono 1:31 Popee 1:41 Kedamono 2:07 Popee 2:20 Kedamono 2:58 Popee 3:36 Kedamono 3:45 Popee 3:49 Both Kedamono and Popee. As for the story, it’s simply about them growing up during the years while trying to pursue their dreams. Nothing too special, really. But with the other songs I’ll eventually try to show the actual story behind this. Now, for some detail: -The old house where they go to at the beginning is actually an abandoned theater once meant to tell classic stories from the Japanese folklore, and both Popee and Kedamono already knew about that place (Keda before Popee), while for Marifa it was a brand new place. -The floating flames that appear in one room of the house are living Will-O-Wisp that belong to an Ao Oni (Japanese Blue Demon/Ogre) named Rokuh, that with some power he can see through them. The Oni is supposed to live in a temple where Kedamono used to live in as well (this is canon). Which is why the ogre often spies on the wolf. -The one tiny guy painting the wall audience is an actual canon character from the old cast, if you search it up you might find him. -The bunch of guys that Popee was about to beat up are made up characters, they are some inhabitants of a lost town in Japan named Chobacko, where the Wolf Zurkus settled in for a very long time, and apparently they either bully Popee or spread the word about the circus, speaking of it quite badly. -The outfits design of Popee and Kedamono during their pre-teen years (1:54-2:33) both belong to Mortibelle from Tumblr (don’t worry, I asked her permission first and she allowed me to use them). -The city you can see near the ending is supposed to be the same city where the PTP sequel/spin-off Phaeton & Me takes place, where Popee, Marifa and Kedamono will eventually make their dreams come true. And this is it! I really hope you enjoy this animatic of mine, even tho it didn’t came up as good as I expected, I still have worked very hard on it! :) Program used: Clip Studio Paint EX. Anime: Popee the Performer by Ryuji Masuda and Wakako Masuda. Song: A Million Dreams written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and singed by Zif Zaifman, Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams.
