Instead of fresh stories and unforgettable characters, many new Bollywood comedy movies rely heavily on nostalgia, old references and recreating moments that already worked in the past. Because of this, audience humour has evolved faster than ever before, making it harder for traditional comedy films to impress people. But does this mean Bollywood comedy is dead forever? Not necessarily. Indian cinema can still make great comedy movies again, but the industry needs to focus on original writing, fresh characters, strong storytelling and genuine creativity instead of only depending on nostalgia and old jokes. Movies like Hera Pheri 3, Welcome To The Jungle and future comedy films have a chance to bring back the comedy genre, but only if they understand what made the classics special in the first place.
