"Magnitude, direction, and sense are elements that define vector quantities. For example, in the vertical direction we can conceive of two senses: from bottom to top or from top to bottom. In the horizontal direction, the sense can be from right to left or vice versa." What is Power? Electrical power is a physical quantity that measures the amount of work done in a given period of time, that is, it is the rate of change of energy, analogous to mechanical power. The electrical system has two types of power: active power, which performs work caused by purely resistive loads, and reactive power, caused by inductive or capacitive loads. When a given load exhibits characteristics of reactive power, then we will have both types of power acting on this load: active power and reactive power, with reactive power being divided into two types: capacitive or inductive. Power factor is calculated as the cosine of the angle between reactive power and active power. The closer the power factor is to 1, the better it is for the electrical system because we will be using all the available power of the electrical grid for active power, that is, the power that effectively performs work. Since it is not possible to completely eliminate reactive power, control measures are taken to keep its values ​​below a power factor of 0.92. Any questions?
