The Comprehensive Story of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 — A Full Narrative Study ________________________________________________________________________ When trying to analyze art, we often focus on the story to understand what we are faced with. That is most particularly true in writing. The meaning behind dialogues and actions and descriptions, revealing the themes and hidden depths. Such a thing is impossible when facing a painting. With no story to rely on, we have to piece together the shapes, the colors, the subjects, fore and background, figures, poses, lighting, all coming together to form a narrative. In a temporal form of visual art, like comics, stage theater, cinema or video games, it’s both. The story doesn’t stand on its own, and neither do the visuals. Both are built upon each other, explicit and symbolic woven together by the artist.
