GR131 💚 La Palma Thru Hike 🇮🇨 Canary Islands Joe Dirt 🇩🇪 german ▶️ Day 15

The GR131 long-distance hiking trail on the island of La Palma (El Bastón / Ridge and Volcano Route) is a breathtaking route that leads hikers through the unique nature and landscapes of this Canary Island. This approximately 67-kilometer trail stretches from Puerto de Tazacorte in the west, over the Roque de Los Muchachos (2426m), to the Faro de Fuencaliente lighthouse in the south of the island, offering a fascinating journey through diverse ecosystems. The GR131 on La Palma leads through lush pine and laurel forests, past stunning volcanic landscapes. The route offers spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and the island's interior, including the impressive Caldera de Taburiente National Park. Along the way, hikers can experience the island's diverse flora and fauna, including endemic plant species. The challenge on this section of the GR131 is that hikers must carry all their water on the demanding trail (with its significant elevation gain). Nevertheless, we are rewarded with unforgettable panoramas and the opportunity to experience the unique beauty and tranquility of my personal favorite island.
