Have you ever had a mad crush on a teacher (or a colleague, student, or anyone else you work with)? This is what was actually (or at least potentially) going on there, and it ain't great. Libido. We all know this word, and use it (almost always) to talk about sexual desire and drive. In Jungian terms, however, the term libido refers to a much more general type of desiring or craving energy. So libidinal energy can be sexual, of course, but it can also be about creativity, productivity, the birth of new ideas, and simply making things happen. The relevance of this is much bigger than the term’s definition, however. Here's the key thing: we don't always know what our libidinal energy is actually based on, or where it's coming from.
