12BN USMID PROJECT LAUNCHED IN LIRA CITY, Eddy Olwa || MISTER ASKED LOCAL LEADERS TO EMBRACE DEV'T
State minister for lands housing and urban development Kania Mario Obiga has asked the city leadership of lira to embrace all the developments channeled by government to the city. He said local leaders have a huge role to play in ensuring success of the government projects. Obiga Kania was in Lira city for the official ground breaking for the second phase of USMID project in the city. The 15 months project will see the construction of a total of 3.5 km of roads in the city, completion of Coronation park and beautification the children’s park in Adyel. Minister of state for Lands housing and urban development Kania Mario Obiga was today in Lira for the ground breaking ceremony of the USMID Additional Financing project in the City. Before the official ceremony the mister visited several project areas including Boundary Round, Olwol Road and children Park in adyel among others to be done under this project. Speaking at the launch Kania charged local leaders to ensure government programs are delivered as stipulated in the designs. In the wake of the security situation in the country Kania urged the people of Northern Uganda to shun any form of insecurity in the region. The 12bn USMID project is given to Abu-baker Technical services and ALNUAMI Group joint venture and its expected to last for 15 Months. Meanwhile the mayor for Lira City Sam Atul urged government for more support to meet the growing challenges of the city Since 2013, Lira Municipality currently Lira City has so far received over 24 billion shillings under USMID program to improve on the urban service delivery.
