The issue seems to relate to two issues (but there could be more): (1) the installation software does not like certain characters in the file name (and gives no warning in this regard) or (2) if the upgrade is not done from a Windows version other than Windows 7, then the result is bad. So please be very careful before performing the upgrade - it could brick your flash!
