Etowah Mounds . . . A Native American Capital's Secret History and Architecture
In 2006, the Muscogee-Creek Nation contracted with Itsate-Creek Architect & City Planner, Richard Thornton, to carry out a comprehensive analysis of Etowah Mounds National Historic Landmark, which is in northwest Metro Atlanta. The ultimate goal of this project was to create a massive model of the town as it appeared at its maximum size around 1375 AD. The many discoveries and unanswered questions that he encountered during the process ultimately resulted in a radical change in his career. Join Richard in this intimate portrayal of the Etowah River Valley's ancient history and the many secrets about this great town that are never told the general public. Unlike the many professionals, who have studied this archaeological zone in the past, he actually lived very close to it for five years AND is descended from the people, who lived in this town.
