Cromossomos | Tipos de cromossomos | O que são cromossomos ?

Chromosomes Welcome to the MENDEL'S PEA channel! In this engaging video, we'll delve deep into chromosomes, located in the nucleus of cells, and discover how they carry crucial genetic information to transmit characteristics from one generation to another. Composed mainly of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) and associated proteins, chromosomes contain the genes responsible for producing the proteins that shape our physical and biological characteristics. Each species is assigned a characteristic number of chromosomes. In humans, for example, we find 46 chromosomes organized into 23 pairs. Of these, 22 pairs are autosomes, while the last pair determines sex, being the X and Y sex chromosomes. During the reproductive process, chromosomes are transmitted from parents to offspring through meiosis. This process involves the division of reproductive cells to form sperm and eggs, each containing half the number of chromosomes of the original cell. When a sperm fertilizes an egg, the chromosomes combine, creating a unique embryo with a singular combination of genetic characteristics. But the genetic journey isn't always perfect. Chromosomal abnormalities, such as trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) or fragile X syndrome, can lead to differences in development and health. This underscores the vital importance of chromosomes in the complex puzzle of genetics. In this video, we explore the wonders of chromosomes and how they define our identity. Join us on this intriguing journey through the microscopic world that has such a surprising impact on our biology. You'll also learn about the difference between chromosomes and chromatin. Don't miss the opportunity to subscribe to our channel for more educational and fascinating content about science and genetics. Join us to uncover the deepest secrets of chromosomes and genetic inheritance! With weekly videos, the channel is presented by Professor Thiago Mendes and aims to teach and answer questions about science, biology, physics, chemistry, geography, astronomy, and other interesting topics in a simple way, to help you, the student, from elementary to high school, and you who are not a student but always want to learn more.
