The Secret To Enjoying Open World Games
In June, I played Sonic Frontiers, but realised, I wasn't having any fun! When I reflected on why that was the case, I found that the reason came down to what motivates me to play Open World games in the first place. Thanks to focussing too hard on collectibles, objectives and beating the game, I was losing out on a sense of joy and pure play - I was in serious danger of losing the very thing that made me enjoy Open World games in the first place. However, thanks to the Jukebox feature, I rediscovered the joy in playing purely for the vibes. This ones a bit more introspective than the last one - I want to double down a bit more on calmer vibes after the previous video got a bit heated! I don't want to upset anyone, I'm just here to have fun and nerd out about videogames, using my introspective approach to think about these games in terms of psychology and philosophy of play while hopefully being a good discussion along the way.
