Horizontal Boring Mill Davis Style Morse Taper Retaining Key How to Hold Tapers for Milling Cutters
In this video where another project has spurred this project to be done instead I go through how I fabricate a jacking wedge device that firmly pushes the Morse taper into the spindle and locks it tight. The locking key also serves to help spread the torque drive loads over an area larger than just the tang. Main thing is if it is held in tight the shallow taper will transmit the loads anyway. There were lots of pieces to making this all work but in the end it turned out nice and I now have a more robust and versatile solution to holding tooling in my Morse Taper 6 Spindle. I hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!
