Julio Ruiz, chief economist at Citi Mexico, explained that the technical recession the Mexican economy is now experiencing, after two consecutive quarters of contraction, is due to two external factors: primarily, the uncertainty surrounding trade policy between Mexico and the United States, as well as the slowdown in economic activity in the United States.
