While it is categorized as a march in the wind band repertoire, it is originally a "Paso Doble." Paso Doble translates to "double step" in English, meaning a dance in 2/4 time, usually performed by a male-female pair to march-like music. Typically, the male plays the bullfighter and the female plays the bullfighter's red cape. Of the four pieces in this collection, this work can be said to be the most technically demanding. The melody part requires intricate movements across a wide range, while the accompaniment part needs to express a precise rhythm to ensure the piece's characteristic driving force remains uninterrupted. The opening section, with its intricate G notes and supporting chromatic movements, will undoubtedly raise the pitch for many groups. However, the performance effect is extremely high, and the trio section, in particular, which shifts from C minor to C major and offers a beautiful contrast between the soaring melody and the sparkling high-register passages, is enough to inspire many bands. The title of the piece is the name of one of the composer's students when he taught at a music school. The reason for using this girl's name as the title is not clear. This work can be performed by 23 people, excluding optional instruments. 《Recommendation (Supervised by Hiroshi Goto)》 In selecting these four marches, the consideration was to encourage listeners to consider the diverse content, style, and educational significance of marches, and to experience this diversity through their engagement. In fact, the technical level of I and II is beginner to intermediate, while III and IV are intermediate to advanced, and the easier I and II show educational considerations throughout. The tonality and time signatures also differ, and III, written in 6/8 time, is sure to offer new learning opportunities. The fact that both III and IV possess the characteristics of dance music, and that IV is supported by folk culture, will also provide valuable hints for musical expression. To discover and appreciate this diversity, we suggest you choose and practice at least two pieces initially. Enjoy the rich musical world that marches can open up.
