Where Does the Arkhamverse Stand After Suicide Squad?

At this point, it seems like there's a pretty high chance that Rocksteady will continue the Batman Arkhamverse in their next big game, which raises one very important question; What do you do with Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League? _________________________________________________________________________ Yeah, most people didn’t like Suicide Squad's story or the direction it took this franchise in. The reality though is that at this point, the game’s likely not going to be decanonized, and unless they’re making a prequel, you can’t just ignore it either because the fallout was so big! Batman being used as a tool for murder by Brainiac? Easily could become the catalyst for him dropping the cowl, paving the way for Terry McGinnis years later in a Batman: Beyond Arkham game. Or, if they ever choose to return to the Justice League, they’re going to have to address the fallout from this game one way or another. Obviously! So, that leaves you with only one option; you rewrite some of the storylines that players weren’t exactly fans of originally. You fix some plot holes. You add ANYTHING that makes this game fit better within the rest of Arkham. And that’s EXACTLY what they tried to do. I’m sure you’ve heard about the big one already, but they retconned one of the game’s most controversial scenes: the Justice League we killed? Apparently, they’re all just evil CLONES of the originals. And this got me thinking; if Rocksteady went back and seemingly rewrote one of the game’s biggest plot points due to all this fan backlash, what else was changed? What else got added in through updates later on? What other “deaths” ended up being fakeouts by the time the game ended? Well, I’ve been digging! Through the post launch content, audio logs, deep cuts, everything you could possibly imagine, and I’ve managed to find 7 major lore details that I think completely recontextualize Suicide Squad’s place in the Arkhamverse. Will any of this change your overall opinion on the game? Probably not, but they might make Suicide Squad’s narrative fit just a bit better alongside the Batman Arkham Series, and also reveal exactly where this franchise, it’s characters, and it’s storylines stand currently… _________________________________________________________________________ Are you a fan of the Batman Arkhamverse?
