However, the violin has 14 positions. This is one of the most sought-after topics for violinists, and sometimes finding a chart like this is a very difficult task. The chart I'm sharing below is intended to help you explore some of your violin's possibilities through practice and technique. It will also allow you to progress and play melodies that were technically impossible without these higher fingerings. These fingerings are also tighter, meaning the spaces between each fingering on the fretboard are smaller. http://comotocarviolin.com Playing the violin in these higher fingerings requires pressing the strings harder to produce a precise and accurate sound. Playing in the higher fingerings demands flexibility in the fingers and wrist. To play more complex melodies, violin positions are directly related to fingering (the fingering on the violin is a movement from bottom to top or vice versa to change notes; with this technique, the left hand must move along the fretboard, allowing the player to play higher notes). The first position is considered the most common for beginners. It's the most frequent position for melodies, and almost all violinists eventually learn it. Intermediate and advanced beginners tend to play the second and third positions more often.
