I Paid $4,389 for Kenya Airways B787 BUSINESS Class - Full Review
Is this the Pride of Africa? That is what we will find out! No Jargon, No Ads, No Drama... This is the full Kenya Airways Boeing 787 Business Class Review. Flying Kenya Airways Business Class on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Amsterdam via Nairobi turned out to be one of the biggest surprises of my travels this year. This long haul business class ticket cost just over $4,000, and from the moment I stepped on board, the experience felt genuinely interesting. From the cabin design to the food, the sleep, and even a full wine tasting service in the sky, this flight delivered far more than I expected. The business class cabin on the Kenya Airways 787 is arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration. It is not the most private layout and you may need to step over your neighbour, but the cabin feels open, clean, spacious, and elegant. What really stood out right away was the crew. Before takeoff, one of the flight attendants personally walked me through every seat feature in detail, which is something you almost never see anymore. The flight departed on time, the atmosphere was calm, and the tone of the service was warm and genuinely human from the start. Shortly after takeoff, the breakfast service began and this is where things started to get interesting. It was a full multi course setup with fresh fruit, warm pastries, coffee, and three hot options including an omelette. Everything tasted clean, fresh, and properly executed. The crew kept the service smooth without rushing anything, and it felt like a proper long haul dining experience rather than a quick meal. After that, I managed to get around 3 hours of rest before fully committing to sleep. The seat converts into a fully flat bed and what surprised me most was how soft and couch-like it felt. When I asked the crew to prepare the bed, they added a mattress topper, several comfortable pillows, and finished it with a warm blanket. That setup made a huge difference. I ended up getting few solid hours of sleep somewhere above Africa and Europe, which completely changed how I felt for the rest of the journey. When I woke up, the cabin was quiet, calm, and almost zen like, with the crew gently coming around to take lunch orders. Lunch service was just as exciting. There were multiple options available. I went for the steak with vegetables while my seat buddy chose the grilled chicken, and both were very well executed. But the real highlight came after the main course when they rolled out a full dessert cart with cheese, cakes, and sweets. You could also pair it with a sweet wine if you wanted, which added another layer to the experience. This is something you rarely see done properly on business class flights. And just when I thought the experience was over, the crew introduced something completely unexpected. A wine tasting service in the sky. It started with the reds, including a bold South African Pinotage and a smooth French Merlot, followed by a second round of whites with two crisp South African selections and a fresh French Sauvignon Blanc. This level of detail, attention, and pride in the service is what really made this flight stand out. Overall, the combination of a comfortable Boeing 787 Dreamliner, genuinely warm and attentive crew, strong food offering, and unique touches like the wine tasting made this one of the most complete long haul business class experiences I have had in a while. Kenya Airways delivered far beyond expectations.
