Airfix HMS Prince Modified -Rex Stewart
In the world of ship models rigging can be a very complicated task when dealing with lines on a miniature model. There are 'shortcuts' that most embrace for a cosmetic approach. I have always believed that the beauty of a build is not the build (in and of itself); but, what is in the build -and this include the rigging. Research has always been the true teacher for any work, including my own. I have taken various writings and photo references (both vintage and contemporary) to make comparisons as to what was carried on these ships during their operation on the seas. Some materials were scanty, while others held authentic information, but no real evidence relative to where lines were belayed. Because of such there has been debates after debates on the subject. I nevertheless decided to go to a different drum beat and isolated myself from the fray to embrace the possibilities of what was practical during the time of build -giving myself a 20 - 50 year window based on artist' renditions of those times. And even in that, the detail was limited. So to conclude, we have here a good model that comes near perfection relative to research and build. I'm satisfied tha I was able to accomplish this in a span of three months. I can only hope this video will assist those who are looking to redefine their work(s) on a broader scale such as what I've done here. thanks for viewing!
