eBaTT - Table Tennis Tutorial - P1 July 2019 (How to increase the amount of spin on your pendulum serve). The Exercise: Develop more spin on your pendulum side spin serve. Naturally this takes pratice and time but if you implement the tips provided on the video you will see results. Tip 1: Arm speed, you must do your best to speed increase or keep the arm speed as fast as possible at ball contact. try to use a piece of paper as shown on the video to help you with the motion and techinque. Tip 2. Contact on the rubber, to gain maximum spin the contact must be in or around the tip of the rubber as shown on the video. tip 3. using velocity, the higher your ball toss the more velocity will be on the ball as it comes down. you can use this weight to increase spin. ultimately its your choice what height you wish to throw the ball up but natrually more spin can be created via a higher ball toss.Short, half long reverse backspin serve: T The Aim: Produce backspin, with a reverse pendulum movement. Develop the technique and execution the serve. How its done: 1. Grip, the grip is centred around the thumb and index finger 2. contact point, getting the bat to hit the bottom side of the ball 3. high elbow, this allows you to bring the bat under the ball which creates backspin.
