The government of President Nayib Bukele activated all prevention and emergency protocols in response to Tropical Storm Cristina, which continues to generate heavy rains and hazardous conditions in various parts of the country. Civil Protection authorities maintain a nationwide orange alert, while thousands of personnel from different institutions are working to respond to any emergency. In addition, in-person classes have been suspended at public and private schools and universities to protect more than 1.5 million students. 180 shelters are also available to assist families requiring preventive evacuation. Firefighters, Civil Protection, Public Works, FOVIAL (Road Maintenance Fund), and other institutions are maintaining continuous operations to ensure the safety of the population.
