Chelsea have spent over £900 million on transfer fees alone in three transfer windows since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital bought the club in 2022, fresh off the back of finishing third in the Premier League. It is the most unprecedented spending spree in the entire history of football, yet Chelsea fell to 12th last season and are 12th again this season, with the least points-per-game of any Premier League team in 2023.
