London violent crime: How do we stop the killing?
Violent crime in London is rising rapidly. More than 50 people have been murdered in the capital this year alone - with most victims under the age of 25. The Government has vowed to do “whatever it takes” to tackle the recent increase in stabbings, shootings and acid attacks, but will it change anything? And what of the people caught up in the violent crime which is corroding some communities? We met up with members of Football Beyond Borders in Brixton, a charity which uses football to support disadvantaged young people in south London – and asked them what they think needs to be done.
