Agua Piedra Campground, New Mexico - Camping Review and Tips, Part 1

Agua Piedra campground is in Northern New Mexico, between Taos and Santa Fe just on the north side of Pecos Wilderness. It is a Forest Service campground, half the sites are by reservation, half are first come only. The campground fills up every weekend so we recommend you make reservations! Do look at the website map and photos before you book, some sites are smaller than we had expected and will not hold larger campers. All campsites had tent areas and many people also had hammocks in trees on sites. Campground was always very quiet, may be the quietest campground we have ever seen. Lots of people from out of state - TX, CA, CO.. in addition to NM residents. Many people brought dogs. No ATVs allowed there, but I think there are trails in area that allow them, we saw quite a few on trailers. Horses area allowed on trails but the side of campground for horse trailers and campers was closed, along with the group camping areas for obvious reasons (this is June 2020). Part 2 - video will show the hiking trails in the area along with some drone footage! We will also give you our thumbs up and down for the campground, as well as some tips. camcorder- Canon HFR800
