A Day at Wingate | Tony Koester's 2-Rail O Scale Modular Layout 2.0

In 2020, Tony Koester did a series in Model Railroader building a 2-rail O scale modular layout called Wingate. Years later, this layout was purchased by my friend David Vaughn, who planned to display it at train shows. Along with his brother Jim and our friend Nick Bulgarino, David made several changes to the layout. Wingate's track was converted from P48 to standard O scale Atlas track, a second mainline was added, the benchwork strengthened to allow it to withstand regular moving, and four additional modules were built including two at each end with turntables. David, Nick, and I got together in my backyard for a day of operating on Wingate and had a ball doing so! More videos of the layout will be coming in the future, including one with an interview with Tony talking about Wingate's origin, design, and construction, and an interview with David about the changes made to Wingate and it's current iteration. Nick and I will also share about the future of Wingate. David, Nick, and I will be setting up Wingate at several upcoming shows in the Mid-Atlantic region this fall. Enjoy the video of clips from our ops session!
