📅 Upcoming Edition: The Nijmegen Vierdaagse 2026 will take place from 21–24 July 2026 in the Netherlands, with more than 45,000 walkers expected to participate in the world’s largest multi-day walking event. 🌍 Experience the unforgettable atmosphere of the legendary Nijmegen Vierdaagse 2024 — also known worldwide as the “Walk of the World.” For four incredible days, soldiers and civilians from across the globe walk between 75 and 125 miles (120–200 km) through historic towns, scenic countryside, forests, dikes, and festive Dutch streets filled with music and cheering crowds. 🎥 This video captures the spirit, emotion, endurance, and celebration that make the Vierdaagse one of the most iconic walking events on Earth. 🏛️ A Brief History of the Vierdaagse The Nijmegen Vierdaagse began in 1909 as a military endurance march organized to improve physical fitness and stamina. Over the decades, it evolved into an international event welcoming civilians from around the world. Today, the Vierdaagse attracts tens of thousands of participants from more than 70 countries and has become a symbol of perseverance, friendship, and global unity. Every July, Nijmegen transforms into a massive celebration with the famous Vierdaagsefeesten, featuring live music, festivals, and celebrations throughout the city. 🚶‍♂️ The Four Legendary Walking Days 🔵 Day 1 – The Day of Elst (Blue Tuesday) Walkers head north across the Waal River into the beautiful Overbetuwe region, passing villages such as Elst, Bemmel, Huissen, Valburg, and Oosterhout. This route features river landscapes, dikes, and wide open countryside. 🌸 Day 2 – The Day of Wijchen (Pink Wednesday) The route heads west through the Land van Maas en Waal region with green polder landscapes and festive village streets. Nijmegen turns pink during the celebrations, creating one of the most unique atmospheres of the week. ⛰️ Day 3 – The Day of Groesbeek (Seven Hills Day) Known as the toughest and most famous stage of the Vierdaagse, walkers tackle the legendary Zevenheuvelenweg (Seven Hills Road) through forests and rolling hills near Groesbeek, Berg en Dal, Mook, and Malden.
