In spring 2025 BBC News reporter Ruby Gleeson travelled to Abu Dhabi to interview Professor Owase Jeelani, paediatric neurosurgeon of the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, to learn how he and his colleagues were using AI and other technologies to separate conjoined twins. Just over a year later, on 18 June 2026, Professor Jeelani joined BBC AI Decoded 's Stephanie Hare to discuss the success of the surgery and how AI and Mixed Reality technologies are transforming healthcare.
