DESTROYED on a Kayak! Monster Tope Breaks My Rod / Kayak Fishing / Irish Angling Diaries #44

Irish Angling Diaries - Kayak Fishing in Ireland Finally I got a Tope on home ground, it was hard work but managed a result. As you can tell I was absolutely gutted about breaking the rod, talked to Century who are building me a new top section but the fish being so close to the yak and me crossing over from mono to braid was the main culprit. My last rod was loch tamer which bent double, that along with the mono meant there was plenty of shock absorption. Still finding my way with the new reels and rod set up the Kayak, but getting there. 8 Tope (and 1 baby Tope) so far this season, happy to have caught fish on the last four sessions. I've a bit of a break from fishing until next as I head to the Welsh hills, but I'll be back to pull out a few more fish!
