Kairi and Sora have had a long-distance relationship since they were 14. They write letters and love each other deeply, but they live far apart. Naminé, a quiet and kind girl, enters Kairi's life when she returns a forgotten book from the library. A beautiful friendship develops between them, but Naminé is hiding a secret: she's in love with Kairi. When Sora finally transfers to Kairi's school, she's overjoyed. But Naminé, jealous and unable to accept it, plots in silence. After casting a spell on Sora to put him to sleep, she takes his place on a date with Kairi and feeds her enchanted ice cream. Kairi, under the spell, becomes convinced that she loves Naminé. Weeks pass, but Sora manages to free himself and finds Kairi and Naminé. He confronts Naminé, but she refuses to let Kairi go. She even summons a Keyblade to stop him. Sora, however, doesn't want to fight; he's just trying to restore Kairi's memories. When she finally remembers him, Naminé, hurt but smiling, holds out her hand, saying, "Come with me… just you and me, as it was meant to be." Kairi is torn, but ultimately chooses with her heart. She thanks Naminé, tells her she loves her… but it's Sora she loves. Naminé fades from the bright light in Kairi's heart, but she has accepted the fact that Kairi isn't hers.
