The World One Step Closer 🌍 Semana Santa in La Laguna is a special time, full of spirituality and traditions. Maundy Thursday — Jueves Santo, procession. You can feel this slow rhythm, which seems to reflect inevitability. The procession unfolds before our eyes with astonishing strictness: an orchestra leads, followed by a platform, then nazarenos wearing tall cone-shaped hoods (capirote). The nazarenos are dressed according to the color of their platform: The first platform represents the Last Supper and Judas’ betrayal — the burgundy robe pulses with the blood of passion and betrayal. The second platform represents Christ’s way to the crucifixion — the purple fabric glimmers in the dim twilight, as if the night itself mourns with us. The third platform is dedicated to the Virgin Mary — luxurious black robes embroidered with gold, and the nazarenos in black clothing. Music plays a special role: the drums create a deep, rhythmic pulse felt in the chest, while the wind instruments and flutes enhance the drama, immersing us in a profound sense of participation. The slow, rhythmic procession seems to reflect the inevitability of Christ’s sacrifice for humanity’s sins. Nazarenos in capirote symbolize deep repentance. The eye slits conceal their faces, emphasizing the deeply personal nature of their penance, and the cone-shaped hoods symbolize the aspiration toward God. The hidden faces remind us that all are equal before God — we must repent of every wrongdoing and malice, strive for goodness, love, and forgive one another. This procession brings us closer to the incomprehensible suffering of Christ. Orchestras, drums, the moving sounds of flutes and wind instruments, sudden silences, platforms, nazarenos, candles symbolizing light against darkness and unbelief, slow rhythmic marching and pauses, and again the swaying steps — all of this touches us to the core. Christ walks barefoot, with chains on His feet, barely dragging His cross. Each of us — has our own cross, and without the cross, there is no salvation. No one remains indifferent. The procession begins amid the city’s noise and gradually fades, giving way to the silence in hearts where the Lord Jesus Christ has settled. Скрытое лицо с прорезями для глаз напоминает, что все мы равны перед Богом — мы должны каяться во всякой неправде и злобе, стремиться к добру, любить и прощать друг друга. Это шествие приобщает нас к непостижимым страданиям Христа. Оркестры, барабаны, проникновенные звуки флейт и духовых инструментов, резкая тишина, платформы, nazarenos, свечи, символизирующие свет в противовес тьме и безверию, медленное ритмичное шествие и остановки, и опять раскачивающиеся шаги. Всё это трогает до глубины души. Идёт Христос босой, с цепями на ногах, еле волоча свой крест. У каждого из нас — свой крест, и без креста нет спасения. Ни один человек не остаётся равнодушным. Шествие начинается с городского шума и постепенно затихает, уступая место тишине в сердцах, в которой поселился Господь Иисус Христос.
