EOS M6 Mark ii with a budget telephoto (is the 55-250 IS STM any good)

So, I have the EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens. It's a great lens, super sharp and some good reach, but it is big heavy and hard to shoot video handheld because of that, and if you wanted to go buy one in Canada right now it would probably cost $3000.00 after tax. I have a little EF-S 55-250 IS STM sitting in a bag at home so I thought why not try it out. Here is the question, is a $300.00 telephoto any good.
